04/14/08 - CRMS Students Earn High Honors at Regional Science Fair
Nineteen students representing fourteen projects from Clinton Rosette Middle School participated in the Illinois Junior Academy of Science Regional Science Fair recently. There were over 400 entries overall, and fierce competition for awards.
David Dailey walked away with the Herbert Hoover Young Engineer's Award with his project on the Aerodynamics of Air Hockey. According to the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library website, the award is given to a student that shows a good grasp of engineering fundamentals, demonstrates competence in one or more engineering disciplines and shows good communication skills by effectively explaining his/her project. The Library also hopes that this will encourage students to pursue the field of engineering in any of its aspects.
Seven CRMS projects earned impressive "High Honors" marks, including: Jacob Marx, Ben Dougen, David Dailey, Raegan Tiggelaar, Sam Bennett, Breyeh Calhoun, Sarah Bellout and Lauren Cliffe.
The other seven projects earned “Honorable Mentions”, including: Henry Deng, Clayton Hobbs, Harrison Hintzsche and Jake Kvasnicka, Brooke Wilson and Haley Bruno, Ben King and Shibo Yao, Lauren Baker, Eric Lee and Scott Sebulski.
