04/18/08 - Wright Teacher Named to Education Advisory Board For Abraham Lincoln Library

Pam Bybee, fourth grade teacher at Wright Elementary School, has been selected for a three year term serving on the Education Advisory Board of the Abraham Lincoln Library in Springfield, Illinois. The library chose Bybee due to her status as a Horace Mann fellow and her excellent work as an Illinois educator. The Board chooses teachers from various regions of the state for representation on the Board.

The Education Advisory Board of the ALPLM works in conjunction with the Education Division in the development and implementation of educational
programming for students and adults. The Board is made up of administrative professionals, museum and library professionals, historians and civic leaders who meet three times each year in September, January and May.  Each member serves for 3 a three year term.

The role of the Board is three-fold: To act as a sounding board for new ideas and innovative programming; to brainstorm with the Education Division staff and bring creative solutions to the table; to provide a network of support and contacts to the Education Division. To actively work with the Education Division in the creation and implementation of programming. To provide peer review and constructive criticism of lesson plans, print materials, programs and workshops presented by the Education Division.

In addition to being named to the Advisory Board, ByBee was also recently awarded the DeKalb County Conservation Teacher of the Year.

"We are very fortunate," said Wright principal, Gina Greenwald, "to have talented and dedicated educational professionals such as Pam Bybee. She is a valuable member of our team."
