04/24/08 - Second District 428 Teacher Tapped for Abraham Lincoln Library Advisory Board

Margaret Jankauskis, English teacher at DeKalb High School, has been tapped to serve a three year term on the Education Advisory Board for the Abraham Lincoln Library in Springfield. The library selects educators from across the state who have shown academic leadership. Recently, Jankauskis had also been named a Horace Mann fellow. The Board chooses teachers from various regions of the state for representation on the Board.

The Education Advisory Board of the ALPLM works in conjunction with the Education Division in the development and implementation of educational
programming for students and adults. The Board is made up of administrative professionals, museum and library professionals, historians and civic leaders who meet three times each year in September, January and May.  Each member serves for 3 a three year term.

The role of the Board is three-fold: To act as a sounding board for new ideas and innovative programming; to brainstorm with the Education Division staff and bring creative solutions to the table; to provide a network of support and contacts to the Education Division. To actively work with the Education Division in the creation and implementation of programming. To provide peer review and constructive criticism of lesson plans, print materials, programs and workshops presented by the Education Division.
