DeKalb School Board Meeting Highlights (2/19/08)

• ·         Dr. Paul Beilfuss announced his retirement, effective 6/30/08
• ·         Recognized Brenda Woker (Jefferson Elementary School) for “Ag in the Classroom” scholarship - Ms. Woker was granted one of ten national scholarships to attend the National Ag In The Classroom Conference. She was recognized earlier in the school year as the 2008 Illinois Runnerup "Ag In The Classroom Teacher of the Year".
• ·         Recognized New Pennies for literary award - One a very select few high schools in the state of Illinois to receive a rating of "Superior".
• ·         Accepted gift from Steve Irving family - $ 1000 to help update the Industrial Technology labs at DeKalb High School.
• ·         Renewed contract with First Student for 2008-2009
• ·         Approved procurement cards for building use
• ·         Approved Technology Revolving Loan ($245,000)
• ·         Approved purchase of additional AED equipment - District 428 is the recipient of 13 grants that will provide 50% of purchase cost.
• ·         Approved requests to solicit bids for parking lot repairs & upgrades (Jefferson, Tyler, DHS, and Huntley)
• ·         Approved requests to solicit bids for roof top repairs (Littlejohn, CRMS)
• ·         Approved requests to solicit bids for roof top unit replacement (Chesebro, Jefferson, DHS)
• ·         Approved VOIP phones for Wright
• ·         Discussed future construction planning/procedures
