Science Courses & Flow Chart
Back to Science
Semester course offerings whose titles contain the word "General", usually are not accepted by colleges as meeting entrance requirements. They are designed to meet minimal graduation requirements for noncollege-bound students. It is intended that General Biology I and General Earth Science be completed as a minimum before enrolling in other semester electives.

College-bound students should take a minimum of one full year of Earth/Space Science, Biology, and Chemistry or Physics (college-prep sequence). Students planning to major in the sciences or engineering should take Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and AP Biology or AP Chemistry (advanced sequence).

Freshmen will be aided in their selection of an appropriately challenging sequence by the recommendation of their middle school science teachers. These recommendations are also reviewed by the high school science teachers.
