Hello DHS Parents-

The National Council of the Teachers of English has awarded New Pennies, the DHS Literary Magazine, a “Superior” rating.  A total of 452 high schools internationally entered the 2007 program, only 10 receive a rating of “superior”.  The highest rating is “highest award”—this goes to one high school, this year, to Bloomington High School.  Congratulations to our colleagues in Bloomington. More importantly, congratulations to sponsor Mr. Chris Lapeyre, and last year’s editors Holden Wilson, Bethany McAnly and Amy Fink and the students who worked on the project.

Parents of seniors - If you would like to buy a yearbook ad for your senior student, the deadline for placing orders has been extended until Friday, May 9th.

Parents of Juniors -  We are still looking for a few dads to help with Valet Parking for Prom.  Their assignment would be from 6-7:30 pm on Saturday, May 10.  If they are interested, please have them contact Angie Euhus at 815.751-9292.

Parents of juniors and seniors - Post Prom is only a few days away, and the final details and decisions have just about been completed.  While the cost for the students is low ($3/student or $5/couple) we are still accepting donations from parents, the community and, area businesses.  People or businesses still interested in contributing are asked to make checks payable to the DeKalb Post-Prom and send them to The DeKalb High School, Post-Prom Committee, 1515 South Fourth Street, DeKalb 60115

Last day of school for seniors:  Tuesday, 5/27

Mandatory Graduation Practice:  Friday, 5/30 from 1:00-4:00 p.m.

Graduation Ceremony:  Saturday, 5/31 at 10:00 a.m. at the Convocation Center (seniors need to be there by 9:00 a.m.)
