(And the museum is right on Lake Michigan.) MAM has a range of collections similar to the Art Institute of Chicago, but on a slightly smaller, more easy going scale.

Just over the Iowa border, this bright and inviting museum is right on the Mississippi River. It offers a very managable amount of galleries with world class art. Parents can't help but feel like a kid again in the family galleries!
