Lesson Gallery - Second Grade Creative Expression
As the second grade studied fantasy and reality in language arts, we discussed it in art too! The artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo painted fantasy portraits that were really still lifes of food. Using images of his work for inspiration, we used our printmaking skills to design these unusual portraits using real vegetables.
Printed Patterns: Warming up for a creative challenge, students used familiar materials to design and print these patterns. Students paid close attention to how to improve their printing as they went along, which helped them solve problems independently in the following assignment.
